CBT is a skills based therapy. It focuses on identifying goals, and techniques that together we might employ to address these difficult issues. It is based on the understanding that our emotional experiences are related to our thoughts, beliefs, and actions – and therefore, it is possible to change our emotional experiences by examining and altering our thoughts and behaviors.
Aids clients in taking positive action towards living a more value-oriented life. The therapy involves working towards the acceptance of unpleasant thoughts, emotions, and/or experiences. Approaching these aspects of ones life without viewing them as problematic, and instead, working to define personal values towards taking action towards living a value-oriented life.
Focuses on building interpersonal and communication skills towards strengthening relationships. Working to explore recent relational episodes towards identifying patterns, building awareness, and promoting relational change in nurturing and maintaining positive and meaningful relationships.
Exposure therapy is the foundational treatment to address psychological problems such as anxiety, OCD, and phobias. It aids in anxiety reduction by gradually facing fears while also refraining from unhelpful coping strategies depending on the type of anxiety (e.g. compulsions, ritualistic behavior, or avoidance). It helps reduce anxiety as one becomes more comfortable with exposures to triggers.
